Often people seeking counselling don't know exactly what they want. What they do know is they feel a need to make contact with another person. Perhaps life's challenges feel overwhelming or you are seeking an opportunity to unravel past events. Perhaps you just want a space to be you for a while.
I can offer you a supportive non-judgemental space where together we can share what going on for you.
I am a humanistic integrative counsellor trained in a variety of approaches. As an integrative counsellor, I draw on multiple therapeutic theories to tailor my approach to each person. Every person I meet is an individual with their own experience and therefore has different needs from the therapeutic relationship. Key concepts for me include a Person Centred Approach, Gestalt Therapy and Transactional Analysis.
Counselling is a second career for me I have a background in education leadership, children's social care, safeguarding, and disability. These life and work experiences inform my counselling and enable me to bring a broad perspective to issues which may arise in the counselling room.
For me having counselling therapy was life changing.
I went into therapy because I was struggling with a particular issue at work. The therapy soon moved past this problem and into a deeper truth about myself. Through skilled listening and empathic connection I found my eyes and heart opened to possibilities and ways of living I had assumed were closed to me. I subsequently trained as a counsellor and now seek to offer others the opportunity to experience their own changes.
A chance for you to explore your thoughts and feelings with a trained professional. I provide a non judgemental confidential space for us to explore the reasons you came to counselling. I will listen to you in an unbiased emphatic manner allowing you to deeply explore what is troubling you. I do not give advice, rather we work together to identify issues and support you to develop your own solutions to what troubles you.
I offer adult sand tray therapy, a technique which enables clients to become aware of their sensory and imaginative responses to what they bring to session.
Sessions can be face to face, online or via phone. I offer a free 20 minute phone conversation after which we can decide whether to proceed to a counselling session.
Sessions are 50 minutes and cost £55.
I offer face to face in my counselling room in Uckfield.

Can be a helpful response which helps you to stay alert to manage a situation. However when the worry does not match the situation faced it can be disruptive and stop you from doing what you want to in life. Working together we will identify the beliefs that are causing your anxiety and develop strategies to help you cope.
The death of a loved one or the loss of a relationship can cause a range of difficult thoughts emotions that can be devastating. By exploring these issues together we can arrive at a place where you can tolerate your feelings and be content to live differently.
Depression can feel grimy, exhausting and hopeless. Together we can search for reasons for your low mood and look for glimmers within your life which will help you unburden these depressive feelings and move to a lighter place.
Often described as 'the best years of your life' school can actually be experienced as isolating, frightening and devastating for your self esteem. Bullying, unhealthy competition, rigid structures and work pressure are all present alongside the friendships and growth we experience . As a child you will have developed ways of behaving in order to survive at school. These 'strategies' often show up in unhelpful ways in adult life. In an empathic non judgemental space we will identify these strategies and together get to a place where you can choose whether to use them in your day to day living.
Defined as an emotional and physiological response to an event or a series of events that completely overwhelms a person's ability to cope. Trauma can leave you feeling unsafe and out of touch with your life. Its important to make the distinction between shock trauma, an isolated event that triggers a trauma response and relational trauma which is the effect of chronic lack of connection with care givers. Although different both leave an imprint in our bodies response to our environment. Together we can find ways to manage symptoms and help you understand your body's trauma responses.
I can help you identify issues at work which are causing you distress and anxiety. Somethings we will not be able to change but together we can explore you response to these issues and help you get to a more accomodating place. I can support you to identify the changes you want to make and be alongside you as you do so.
